Our student statistics: Who is getting ACT Ready? (As Of 3/4/2013)
Academic Advice:
Juniors: let your teachers know now that you’re interested in applying to college! Junior teachers are great choices to write your letters of recommendation next fall so form good relationships with them while you are in their classes. AP, Pre-AP, and Dual-Credit teachers are great options because they have seen a higher level of your schoolwork.

College/Universidad 101: AusTinOn November 10, 2012 College Forward Austin held its C101 workshop on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos. The day gave both high school juniors and their parents a glimpse of college life and what they can expect during the college application process.
The Juniors spent the morning taking a practice ACT exam. This was the first encounter with the ACT for many students, and the experience provided them with insight as to what to expect on their official test day. During the afternoon, students were able to enjoy lunch with College Forward coaches and went on a campus tour with several College Forward Collegians who currently attend Texas State. The students especially enjoyed getting to know and networking with other College Forward students, as it was the first time all juniors came together for a single event. Parents took part in workshops throughout the day designed to provide guidance on how to support their students during the transition from high school to college. Topics included different types of financial aid, how to support their students while allowing them to maintain their independence, and the college application process. The workshops also provided a great opportunity for parents to network with other families in their community who are going through similar experiences. Not to go unnoticed were the handful of College Forward coaches who volunteered in the baby-care unit and provided a full day of childcare services for our parents! |
